Being your child's strongest advocate to ensure they receive the programs and services needed to ensure a promising quality of life is oftentimes is a weary, tiresome, and discouraging process. The multi-faceted processes, the different professionals involved, interpreting scores, and understanding the application of the law can overwhelm parents who are taxed emotionally.
As an advocate for you and your child, our goal is to assist you and your school district with providing your child a free and appropriate education, as they are guaranteed under Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
As an advocate for you and your child, you will be supported every step of the way regardless of where you are in the process of working with your school's Committee of Special Education.
Such support and services include but are not limited to:
* Parent support in person, on the phone, via Skype, and email.
* Review of current and past documents.
* Lawfully requesting the appropriate evaluations be administered to your child.
* Ensure the appropriate evaluation tools are used to correctly measure you child's academic gains.
* Interpret evaluation scores.
* Using data to create appropriate Goals and Objectives.
* Attend IEP meetings to represent and support you.
* Research appropriate school settings for your child.
* Ensure your child's related services are diligently provided.
* Ensure your child receives the appropriate assistive technology, if needed.
* Communicate with school district, teachers, and related service providers.
* Objectively observe your child in class(es).
* Research and visit schools to consider as an alternative school placement for your child.
* Provide coaching in working with with therapist.
* Draft an American With Disabilities Act Form 504, if needed.
